Originally part of the Pelyn Estate, the Roundhouse section of this house was formerly the Granary. Its hexagonal shape was for practical reasons
in allowing the horse or donkey to turn the two large granite rollers in grinding the corn. Now the impressive lounge it allows viewing of the gardens
and fields from all angles, creating an unusual relaxed atmosphere.
The kitchen and double bedroom above was originally a ‘one up and one down’ cottage i.e. the kitchen was the whole living space whilst the bedroom was
all there was upstairs.
The dining room, hall and bathroom was where the cows were milked, the old milking parlour!
The upstairs was where they stored bags of corn and potatoes.
Outside in the snooker room and games room was where animals were kept, and their feed such as hay etc.
So the whole of the house and outbuildings was the old Pelyn Barn farmstead.

This picturesque farm achieved full organic status recently. The Roundhouse accommodation is located centrally in one of our two green valleys where
wildlife abounds and pleasant walks are always popular. With its Jacob sheep and South Devon cattle there is always something of interest during the
changing seasons on this South East Cornish farm.
